History

The Greater Eugene Chorus was chartered in June of 1976.

1981 brought us a new director and the merger of the Willamette Valley Chorus and the Greater Eugene Chorus.  Changes were happening on the regional level and we became part of the newly formed Mountain Shore Region #24.  Competition was in Idaho Falls and the newly merged chorus knowing only 3 songs, the two contest songs and Harmonize the World, took the contest stage with our new director Denny Stiers.  To shock of the whole region, the chorus won the competition earning us the right to compete at the international level.

Our numbers grew and with 82 singers we took the stage in Detroit and placed in the middle of the pack.  In subsequent years we took 2 senconds and a third.

Then in front of our home town in 1988 we again won 1st place and represented the region at International Competition in Miami.   In 1993 we earned a 3rd place medal.

Fast forward to 2012 we welcomed a new director - Kathy Kileen.  Our small chorus made the region take notice of us again as we received 1st place small chorus and 5th place overall.

2013 the International Board of Directors voted to redistribute the regional lines and 2013 would be the last competition for region #24 and we would be returning to region #12.  We proudly accepted our 2nd place small chorus medals that year.

We look forward to continued growth both in members and musical knowledge.
